A tidy is a full groom's smaller sibling: no clipper work over the body, just scissors around the eyes, the muzzle, the feet and the sanitary area, plus a comb-through and a nail check. It is the booking for owners who like a long coat and do not want it taken off, and for the four-week mark when a doodle's fringe has grown over its eyes again. All of the face work is done with blunt-tipped scissors, with a hand between the blade and the dog.

How often do most dogs need one?
