When a coat has felted to the skin, brushing it out is painful and often not possible. We clip under the matting with the shortest blade the coat allows, working slowly and checking the skin as we go, because what is underneath is usually red, damp and sore. Your dog goes home shorter than you wanted and much more comfortable than it arrived. We photograph the skin, tell you what we found, and set you up with a comb and a routine so the next coat comes back in better condition. Nobody gets a lecture. Everyone gets a plan.
